Ste-Anne-de-Bellevue Garlic Fest

I have been having a hard time with my internet connection lately so this post will be short and to the point with no pictures:

4th annual Ste-Anne-de-Bellevue Garlic Festival

Saturday August 21st 2010 from 9 AM to 2 PM.

A number of local farms (including la ferme coopérative Tourne-Sol, la ferme Carya, la ferme Joly, la Prucheraie, and les Caïeux de St-Georges) will be selling certified organic garlic bulbs and/or garlic braids for eating and planting. Some of these experienced garlic growers will also be offering free garlic workshops to market goers.

The workshop schedule is as follows
9:30 Know your garlic varieties
10:30 Garlic braiding demonstration
11:15 Growing great garlic in your home garden
12:15 Roasted garlic cooking demonstration
13:00 Garlic and its health benefits

I will be leading the 9:30 and 11:15 workshops.

The festival extends beyond the market onto special garlic themed menus at TWIGs and Herbs, two local Ste-Anne restaurants.

The Ste-Anne farmer’s market is dedicated to promoting local ecological food and agriculture. All the artisans and producers who sell at the market come from the region, and many of them are certified organic. The market will be celebrating it’s 10h anniversary on September 28th and is situated in front of City Hall on St-Anne street.

Later!
