ACORN’s 11th Annual Organic Conference

Acorn (the Atlantic Canadian Organic Regional Network) hosts a conference every spring. This year the Eastern Canadian Organic Seed Growers Network (ECOSGN) has organized a stream of seed production workshops.

FRIDAY, MARCH 11, 2011
9 a.m. – 10:15a.m. Getting Started in Vegetable Seed Production with Andrea Berry and Dan Brisebois.
10:30a.m.–11:30a.m. Root Crops: Producing Organic Seed with Karen Davidge, Greg Wingate and Richard Behm.
1:15 p.m. – 2:15 p.m. Tools of the Trade with Andrea Berry, Owen Bridge and Greg Wingate.
2:45p.m. – 4:30p.m. Improving Seed Quality: Seed Borne Disease with Karen Davidge, Greg Wingate and Richard Behm.
2:45 p.m. – 4 p.m. Seed saving 101 with Greg Wingate

I’ll also be giving or participating in a few other workshops too:

1 p.m. – 2 p.m. Low barrier methods to achieve your farm dream. Panel with Jean Snow (SPIN farming), Graeme Bancroft (roadside stand), and Daniel Brisebois (co-op farming)
FRIDAY, MARCH 11, 2011
1:15p.m. – 4:30p.m. Financial planning for vegetable growers with Daniel Brisebois
10 a.m. – 11:30 p.m. Seven years of CSA farming with profits with Daniel Brisebois and Emily Board
1 p.m. – 2:15 p.m. CSA panel: Finding the right (profitable) model for your business with Roxanne Beavers, Jessica Ross, Emilie Gagné, and Daniel Brisebois.

This will be my first time at the ACORN conference. I’m excited to go see a few friends I don’t see often and make a bunch of new friends!
