Saturday August 20th from 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. is 5th Annual Ste-Anne Garlic Fest.
The event takes place at the Ste-Anne’s farmers market situated at the cross section of Ste Anne and St. Pierre Streets (postal code: H9X 1L6) in Ste-Anne-de-Bellevue,QC.
Local farmers (including la Ferme Coopérative Tourne-Sol, la ferme Carya, la ferme Joly, la Prucheraie, and les Caïeux St-Georges) will be selling more than 10 varieties of certified organic garlic bulbs and/or garlic braids for eating and planting.
Garlicky foodstuffs will be featured at the 35+ vendors’ tables. Amongst others, BBQ Garlic Sausages; Bruschettas, Garlic Pestos; Goat Cheese with Garlic; Roasted Garlic & Chile Tacos from The Little Mexican Cooking School, and even artisanal garlic soap!
And the festival extends beyond the market onto special garlic menus at most of the local retaurants.
New This Year: Two Contests
1. THE GREAT GARLIC DESSERT CHALLENGE.
The contest is open to all cooks. Submissions should be received by 10 am Saturday August 20. A panel of 3 celebrity judges will determine a winner based on TASTE, PRESENTATION AND most importantly it’s “GARLICOCITY”.
2. GARLIC GROWERS’ COMPETITION.
Open to ALL growers, the contest will showcase garlic specimens in 2 classes: single bulbs & braids. Think you know what a perfect garlic bulb looks like? Submissions should also be received before 10 am Saturday August 20th.
