The seed harvests have been coming in.
We generally cut whole plants when the are about 75% mature and bring them in our seedling greenhouse to finish ripening out of the rain.
They are spread on tarps which helps capture seed as it shatters on the drying plants.
Earlier in the season this greenhouse was packed with seedlings for the field.
But at this point, there are only a few tables of lettuce and other green things for late summer succession planting. You can see those in the distance of this picture.
It’s great to be able to get multiple uses out of the same place.
p.s. if you’re wondering – the seed crops in the picture are chervil, Chinese cabbage, scallions, and chives.
